This week, Microsoft announced that "Tomb Raider Legend" and "Tomb Raider Anniversary" are now playable on XBOX One via their Backwards Compatibility program.
The games can be bought digitally or as a physical disc, allowing gamers who already own the titles to replay it on modern consoles and for newer fans to purchase the games at a reduced price. The addition of the two games means that all "Tomb Raider" titles released for the XBOX console throughout its history are now available to play on any version of the XBOX One.
"Tomb Raider Legend" and "Anniversary" are just two titles available as part of Microsoft's ongoing Backwards Compatibility program, and joins adventures such as "Tomb Raider Underworld", the "Alan Wake" series, "Red Dead Redemption", "Bioshock", the "Gears of War" series, "Jade Empire", "Psychonauts", and more.
Gaming can be a challenging hobby to maintain on a budget, especially with major AAA titles costing around $60, the program allows the perfect balance of nostalgia with beloved classics for long-time gamers and a more obtainable price for ones starting out or needing to reign in their expenses.
If you know someone who might like to try some of the earlier "Tomb Raider" games, give them a heads up about the new announcement. Alternatively XBOX now allows titles to be bought as a gift if you would like to surprise them.
