Earlier this month, a unique and custom Shadow of the Tomb Raider XBOX One X console raised more than eight hundred thousand dollars for Best Friends Animal Society.

Best Friends Animal Society is America's leading animal welfare organization, operating the nation's largest no-kill sanctuary for cats and dogs, and working in partnership with thousands of animal welfare groups to run lifesaving programs in the hope of having a no-kill policy throughout the country by 2025. Their ongoing goal is to demonstrate compassion and respect for all living creatures, and promote that kindness throughout numerous outreaching projects. The charity was selected as part of a collaboration between XBOX and Square Enix for National Dog Day, which also saw the release of a pet-filled video twist to Shadow of the Tomb Raider's End of the Beginning trailer.

The auction took place on Ebay, through the Ebay for Charity program which ensures that the full amount promised by the seller is transferred to the charity; and for this specific item the 100% of the bid was donated to Best Friends Animal Society. The complete listing includes a custom XBOX One X 1TB console, XBOX Wireless Controller, and a digital download of Shadow of the Tomb Raider which unlocks on 14th September 2018.

The console itself is stunning with an ornate case embellished with Maya glyphs and decorations encircling the eclipsing sun; the logo of the upcoming game. Across the front is the game's logo, embossed and painted silver, complementing the bronze, stone palette of the rest of the console. Snaking itself around the top of the box is a green vine, similar to the foliage sneaking around the controller which too bares the matching colour scheme and Maya design.

The unique bundle of one of only a small handful that exists, with another known console being offered in a giveaway for US-only fans attending PAX West in Seattle. This auction item, available for shipping to US and Canada, saw an opening bid of $1,000 and a closing bid of $8,300 with a total of thirty-six bids across its seven day auction.

The money raised will help fund a number of programs advising pet owners on how to look after their new family member for a healthy and loving long life, fund no-kill partnerships and programs, promote adoption verses buying schemes, and to continue to help the hundreds of animals in their sanctuary.
