In addition to Team Tomb Raider Community's livestream, Crystal Dynamics is also taking part in Extra Life this year with a 24 hour broadcast starting today!
To avoid confusion between Team Tomb Raider Community (captained by Stella Lune) and Team Tomb Raider (captained by Crystal Dynamics) we're going to refer to the latter as the Crystal Dynamics livestream/team as it's set to be held at the developer's studio and on the developer's Twitch channel.
This year the Crystal Dynamics team is raising money for UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital (in San Francisco) which specializes with "cancer, heart disease, neurological disorders, organ transplants, orthopedics, and care for newborns with critical illnesses." As the studio is based in the same city, it holds a personal importance for the team. This year, the CD team hopes to raise $15,000 for the hospital, already raising $303 (at time of writing) before the challenge has even begun.

About Extra Life
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Extra Life marathon initiative. Started in 2008, Extra Life began, as a way of honoring Victoria Enmon who battled acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. After her passing in January of that year, the event was set up to raise money for the hospital (Texas Children’s Hospital) which had cared for her so that it can help other children facing similar situations. The follow year, Extra Life expanded and in 2009, more than a hundred websites and 12,000 donors supported the campaign. In response to worldwide attention and support, the campaign turned its attention to raising money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals so that more children like Victoria can get the medical help they need.
By donating in this year's Extra Life your money will go towards caring for children in hospitals across the United States and Canada. Every minute, 62 children enter the hospitals and the donations received throughout the livestreams provide help for children regardless of whether or not they have health insurance. The money also helps the hospitals improve and maintain the level of care by paying for training, research and equipment. The Children's Miracle Network consists of 170 hospitals which provide 32 million treatments across the US and Canada.
