This past week, Google announced their new game platform with a focus on streaming, the Google Stadia.

With a potential 60fps frame rate, 4K resolution, HDR support, and 5.1 surround sound, depending on your network speed, the Google Stadia is an interesting glimpse into the future of streaming previously paved by consoles such as Onlive. Originally teased back in March 2019, recently we got a wave of new information including specifications, pre-orders, and hands-on reviews.

Recently the first wave of games were announced included some amazing titles such as "Final Fantasy XV", "The Elder Scrolls Online", "The Division 2", "Assassin's Creed Odyssey", "Borderlands 3", and the recent Tomb Raider trilogy; including "Tomb Raider" (2013), "Rise of the Tomb Raider", and "Shadow of the Tomb Raider".

Because of the phrasing of the social media announcement and the proximity to the reveal so close to major international gaming convention, some fans did a double take, believing that the trilogy meant a potential remaster for the first three Tomb Raider games, with others feeling disappointed at the lack of new TR news this E3. Regardless of whether you have the reboot trilogy already or even if you're not interested in the Stadia, there is a reason why the announcement should be exciting...
For a lot of people, this could be their first introduction to Tomb Raider, especially if they tend to game on Nintendo consoles. It won't be everyone's first glimpse of TR but for some it will be, and it's always exciting to see new fans join the community with a fresh passion. The fandom thrives on that creativity from fans who are inspired and want Lara's journey to continue. So while it may not directly influence long-time fans, it may in-directly down the line.

Google is offering the Stadia Founder's Edition with the pre-order price set at £119 and free delivery. Included in the pack is the pre-order exclusive Night Blue Stadia Controller, a Google Chromecast Ultra (allowing connectivity to your TV), a Founder's Stadia Name, three months subscription to Stadia Pro, and a giftable three month subscription to Stadia Pro for a friend.
