[March 9th 2021] Back in February, Crystal Dynamics announced that they were teaming up with a group of eleven new artists to bring a reimagined twist to the game covers we all grew up with. Brenoch Adams kickstarted the project with his Tomb Raider I box artwork, which placed Lara back in the Lost Valley and with a familiar foe. For March, it's all about Tomb Raider II, and to celebrate it, Crystal has recently shared the new piece for the month.

The artist is Barbara "Babs" Tarr (best known for her work Batgirl, Gotham City Sirens, and Motor Crush), who created an electrifying piece capturing Lara's mischievous side, with the heroine highlighted beautifully by two neon dragons. The art packs a punch, delivering strong bold lines and a dramatic colour scheme.

Babs, a long-time fan of the series, originally chose Tomb Raider II as it was her introduction to the series. Talking to Crystal Dynamics, she talked about she "unknowingly played the demo and when it ended and I realized I didn't have the whole game I was heartbroken - but I'll never forget putting the butler in the freezer! Lara Croft will always hold a special place in my heart.”

“Lara is both badass and a babe, my favourite combo to draw,” revealed Babs. “My inspiration for this piece was a mix of the old cover art with my own personal style! I kept a simplistic background and similar character cropping but added her iconic red sunglasses for extra flair. I updated the logo and dragons with a neon treatment to both fit my style and make them feel a bit more modern. I hope everyone has as much fun seeing it as I did creating it!”
