Last week, the official Tomb Raider social media channels announced that Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the latest game in the series and the conclusion to the reboot trilogy spanning almost a decade, will be receive a special relaunch in the form of "Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition".
Since 2014, each of the games in the trilogy have received their own special edition released approximately a year after its initial release. For "Tomb Raider" (2013), that edition saw the game launch onto next generation platforms with graphical tweaks and packed with all available DLC. In 2016, "Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20th Year Celebration" was released for PS4 following a timed exclusivity publishing deal with Microsoft, which also came with all the trimmings. Now it's Shadow of the Tomb Raider's turn!
The Definitive Edition will include all of the content released to date including all challenge tombs, weapons, outfits, plus seven DLC packs. Exclusive to the "Definitive Edition" is the "Croft Fitness" outfit along with "additional gameplay adjustments" which we will dive into closer to the date.
Fans who have already purchased Shadow of the Tomb Raider and its Season Pass will automatically receive the Definitive Edition free upon its launch, however players will need to redeem and manually download the update via XBOX Live, the PlayStation Network, or via Steam in order to access the new content.
