Yesterday marked twenty-four years since the launch of the original "Tomb Raider" and, to celebrate the occasion, the community took to social media to talk about their favourite memories, how they became a fan, and to share their latest projects that they've been working on. Companies also jumped onboard, including Weta Workshop, who shared the full first look of their highly-anticipated Lara Croft statue!

Weta Workshop first teased the project back in late-July to coincide with SDCC at Home and it was well-received by fans. In the initial teaser, we got our first glimpse of the prototype statue with a photo looking over Lara's shoulder at a raptor below. While details were minimal, we knew that the statue would measure 1:4 scale, that the piece was inspired by "Tomb Raider Anniversary", that we would be seeing more in October, and that it was to celebrate the series' twenty-fifth anniversary.

Coinciding with the 24th anniversary yesterday, Weta Workshop uploaded concept artwork for the upcoming statue, giving players the first look at the full piece. The stunning art was created by Gus Hunter, their Senior Concept Artist. (The image can be viewed in full below!)

The artwork is gorgeous and features Lara, appearing with her "Tomb Raider Anniversary" look, taking on two raptors below her as they circle a broken tree trunk.

The upcoming statue won't be the studio's first exploration into Tomb Raider merchandise, having already produced three incredible props for the launch of "Shadow of the Tomb Raider". The work they do is of exceptionally high quality, with a portfolio featuring a full-scale bow, Lara's necklace carved from jade inside a wooden puzzle box, and a limited edition 1:4 scale statue of Lara wading through the jungle. You can see their full Tomb Raider collection, HERE, many of them currently discounted!

As we near Tomb Raider's twenty-fifth anniversary, we'll be sure to hear more as the date approaches!
